Temperatures over 45°C
In summer, extreme climate conditions push the water system beyond its operating limits.
How a major Algerian customer revolutionised the press-oil cooling system in its production unit, abandoning water cooling towers in favour of ENEAGREEN.
The customer is a well-known manufacturer in Batna, a major ceramic district in Algeria where numerous sector producers are concentrated.
A company that, with a view to continuous improvement, pays close attention to innovative and reliable technologies capable of delivering real benefits based on the factory’s needs and goals.
The latest objective: replace the old cooling-tower systems for press-oil cooling with a more efficient, higher-performing solution.
In summer, regional temperatures easily exceed 45°C: under these extreme conditions, water cooling cannot keep the oil below safety thresholds.
All the installed presses used the cooling-tower (water-based) system, which entails high water-treatment and maintenance costs and left the customer dissatisfied with results not in line with their needs.
In summer, regional peak temperatures very easily exceed 45°C: under these extreme conditions the water system cannot keep the press oil below the required thresholds. The risk of damage is concrete, and the customer wants a solution.
In summer, extreme climate conditions push the water system beyond its operating limits.
The cooling tower fails to keep the press oil below safety thresholds, with a concrete risk of damage.
High water-treatment and maintenance costs typical of cooling-tower systems.
Performance not in line with the customer's production needs.
During a meeting with the plant’s technical managers, all information on operating and environmental conditions was analysed.
The analysis result is clear: the systems in use cannot reach and maintain the values needed for safe operation under these conditions. Switching to an air cooling system is essential.
| Parameter | Previous solution | New solution |
|---|---|---|
| Technology | Water-based | Air-based with variable ventilation |
| Maintenance | High | Minimal |
| Operating costs | High | Reduced |
| Hot-climate output | Limited | Optimal up to +45°C outside |
ENEAGREEN is the original air cooling system and the most widely used in the ceramics industry. Designed by FIMO, a Sassuolo company with over 40 years of sector experience.
Among its various features, the ENEAGREEN model has a self-cleaning automatic fan-reversal system and a robust structure that makes it suitable for working even in the most challenging environments, with no need for particular maintenance.
Ventilation adjusted to the real oil and outside climate temperatures.
Automatic fan reversal → zero build-up of dirt and debris.
Operational even above 45°C ambient temperature.
Consumption reduced by up to 30% vs traditional systems.
Significant noise reduction compared with cooling towers.
Elimination of the water circuit and associated treatment and maintenance costs.
In autumn 2022 the customer decided to start with 2 ENEAGREEN units, to assess results and performance against the old system: if satisfactory, replacing all cooling towers would be considered.
A few months later the customer declares full satisfaction: the oil-temperature instability problem is solved, as is the excessive maintenance, leading them to replace the other towers too with the appropriate ENEAGREEN models.

One year after installation, the customer confirms having solved the oil-temperature stability problem and eliminated the costs related to water-circuit consumption and maintenance, with better overall efficiency of the department.
| Metric | Result | Impact |
|---|---|---|
| Energy consumption | up to -30% | Compared with traditional cooling-tower systems |
| Hourly consumption | -6 kW/h | Constant saving in production |
| Oil temperature | -7°C | Stability achieved even with outside temps over 45°C |
| Water circuit | Eliminated | No water treatment or maintenance cost |
| Plant extension | All towers | Full replacement after the pilot |
The ENEAGREEN case in the Algerian market shows how choosing to invest in reliable technological solutions tailored to the customer's needs not only delivers significant savings but makes the entire production unit more efficient.
