CONDOLENCES FOR THE LOSS OF PIERO ZANONI, PIONEER OF THE CERAMIC INDUSTRY

13 June 2023

At the age of 80 Piero Zanoni, enlightened entrepreneur and gentleman of the past, passed away after being one of the protagonists of the ceramic industry for over 50 years.

After a five-years’ experience from 1966 to 1970 at Monter (Montedison group), company based in Novara, as ceramic kiln test technician for Italian and foreign customers, he became sales manager for the same company, managing Sassuolo area and the Eastern European countries (a position that he held for 10 years, until 1978).

Later he becomes Sales Area Manager of South America for SACMI Imola.

Starting from 1980 he became Managing Partner and Area Manager of South American countries for the company Intercer in Milano.

In 1996, together with his sons Gian Luca and Paolo, Piero established INTER SER SpA. A great entrepreneur and a great father, Piero Zanoni has paved the way of INTER SER and then gave free rein to his sons that guide the company from about a decade.

He loved South America, especially Argentina and Colombia, where he was among the first italians to promote the technology Made in Sassuolo, and where he followed up his customers (who have also become great friends) for nearly 50 years.

“He always trusted us and let us take important decisions in the company since the early years. He has always been there to give suggestions without ever imposing his ideas. He did the same thing with Ivo Zanetta when he started to follow those customers that he was once managing. His approach gave us the confidence and the awareness necessary to take over the reins of the company.” tells Paolo Zanoni.

“Our father was an example and a guide for us, in both work and private life. He taught us values such as seriousness, reliability, honesty and initiative who not only preached but he put into practice daily.” says Gian Luca Zanoni.

“He will truly be missed” comment Piero’s sons.

Outside work he had a wonderful family, the passion for the game of bridge and for his beloved football team, Torino F.C..

Piero is survived by his wife Maura, the sons Sandra, Annalisa, Gian Luca and Paolo and the beloved grandchildren Violante, Virginia, Margherita and Caterina.
